Things from koreanthings...

Got some stuff from koreanthings that are not found in iheartkoreanbeauty...

I introduce...

From Lady & Skin.... Snow white UV Protect Sun Balm, PA+++

I'm sure most people will know skinfood... This is their Omija whitening spot cream...

From Mamonde... Brightening Fitting Base SPF 22 PA+.

Anyone knows how to read korean?? Do tell me what it means if you know...

I find that I am obsess with SPF products... hence the sun balm and fitting base... Will put up a review on them after I have tried them out...

Hello Cleanser!! (Part 2)

Next up....

PURE BEAUTY YOUTH RESTORE CLEANSING FOAM

Bought it in Watsons... I was actually quite excited as I read reviews that it does not foam much and it is gentle. To add to that.. It helps with anti-aging.

BUT even if this cleanser does not foam up much, it seems harsh on my skin... My skin broke out after using this for about 2 days. My skin also became really rough to touch. The smell is okay... Nothing much to add on...

VICHY CLEANSING MICELLAR SOLUTION

I like this cleanser. What you see below is the empty bottle.

It cleanses really well with no foam. It is in clear liquid form like water. Not viscous at all. There is no need to use a foaming cleanser to wash it off... Just rinse off after massaging it on the face.

However, this can be used up pretty quickly as I tend to pour out too much to use at times. I will may repurchase this product once I clear out my other cleansers...

Price: S$30

VICHY ONE STEP CLEANSER

This is similar to the one above but it is milky in colour and more viscous. I bought this because there is no more stock for the Vichy cleansing micellar solution (the one right above).

This cleanser does not foam up too but it will leave behind a film on the face. The SA told me to wipe it off with cotton wool but rinsing with water is also alright. Although this is a one step cleanser, I still use another cleanser after this to get the filmy feeling off my face...

I believe this will last longer than the one above because it is not as runny and hence there is no tendency to pour too much out... Hee...

GSS

There is 20% off at The Face Shop now!!!

Went there recently to stock up on my Su Hyang toner and maximizing gel. Hehe... Must make full use of this 20% discount.

Their sheet mask that usually costs $12 for 3 pieces is now $17 for 5 pieces. There is also another type of mask that costs $25 for 5 pieces (I think it's the gel mask. Correct me if I'm wrong.).

I'm using the mask now while I am typing this... Hee!!

Hello Cleanser!! (Part 1)

For my first post after a loooonnngggg long time, I will review 2 of the cleansers that I have used during my long break from blogging about skincare. Cleansing is an important part of skincare routine which will unclog pores. If the pores are clogged, skin problems such as acne will occur. Cleansing will also help your skin to absorb moisturizers or serums better.

HANSKIN O2 CLEANSING OIL BLACK HEAD

First up, it is Hanskin O2 Cleansing Oil Black Head. I was told that I can use this to remove makeup and do not need to use another cleanser to wash it away... I was a bit suprised since I thought cleansing oils are accompanied by another cleanser to wash it off. I have to damp my face then apply by rubbing it in circular motion and lastly leave it for 10 - 15 mins before washing it off.

I like the smell and I followed the routine for about a week. I do not like the feel of my face after washing off because it feels a little oily but I did not have any break outs at all. But I noticed little bumps on my cheeks so I just stopped using it. I have no idea on how well it removes makeup since I do not really use it. I will put on sun block with strong spf of about 35 and above with PA++ at least. Hence the need for a good cleanser.

Later, I used this again but with Hanskin's Namuhana Herb Cleansing Foam (reviewed below) and it is alright for me but after a few days I noticed that my skin is slightly dry. My skin condition is slightly troublesome because of it's sensitivity.... a BIG headache for me...

Therefore, I will only use this when I apply makeup or apply a thick layer of sunscreen (don't do this because it can cause serious clogging of pores) and I will wash it off with another cleanser. I believe people with normal skin type is more suited for this. People with serious oil secretion have to use another cleanser to cleanse this off.

HANSKIN NAMUHANA HERB CLEANSING FOAM

Love this cleansing foam! I know I mentioned that I do not like foaming cleansers but still I like to try some out from time to time... hehe... This time I hit the jackpot!!

I like how this cleanser works for me. It is actually quite runny and milky white in appearance. The smell is refreshing. I have the picture for the product description on the box but the picture refuses to straighten itself!! (Okay. I'm lazy to go rotate it.) Therefore, the blue text below taken from iheartkoreanbeauty.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: "100 ml. Contains natural soapwort soap substances that cleanse impurities and makeup residue and lemon extracts that gently exfoliate to leave skin healthy and clear."

HOW TO USE: "Use wet hands and create a rich lather. Massage gently over face and rinse with lukewarm water."

A little of it can go a long way. It cleanses well for me without drying out my face (when used alone w/o the cleansing oil mentioned above) and it does not cause the tight squeaky feeling.

Overall, I will buy it again when I finish going through some of my cleansers. Getting crowded in my bathroom... Hee...

Ain't Zhen kind to help me place it all in a box to protect the stuff??

On top of that... She also helped me to bubble wrap them!!!

These are all the items without the bubble wrap....

Items from Innisfree....

Items from Tony Moly and the pink one is from Hanskin... Haven't tried anything on Hanskin yet... Hmm....

The samples & VIP gift....

Taking a break...

I'll be taking a short break from testing samples... I don't know whether it's the magic flora cream or the black sugar mask that irritates my skin...or perhaps both? My cheeks became itchy and dry. It's the worst that I've ever encountered... so I went to do a facial... The lady said that my cheeks are sensitive and told me to stop trying samples as some of them may be too harsh for my cheeks.

After the the facial, she gave me a small container of healing gel (I forgot the name) and a sample of Rojukiss Spot Light BB cream (has healing properties at least that what the facial lady said...). By now my cheeks are healing properly... it's been 3 days since I went for facial.

So far the Rojukiss Spot Light BB cream didn't cause any breakouts but my t-zone especially the nose becomes shiny around noon. I need the BB cream to cover up the redness and it does that pretty well. The cream is a little too thick but a little of it goes a long way... don't put on too much of it else the look will be slightly pinkish. Does not irritate my cheeks so I reckon it is suited for sensitive skin.

I believe both the healing gel and the bb cream does help to heal my cheeks... So... that's it for now...

Reviews

Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash off
Apply after cleansing on wet face. I believe it's for exfoliating the skin since there are those micro beads in it. my skin became smooth...obviously... my cheeks are a bit tender... other than that i have nothing to say... oh yeah! don't rub to hard. The scent is alright. I think this isn't suited for very sensitive skin or pple with dry skin.

Innisfree magic floral cream with camelia & green complex
I think my skin is weird... I tried this and it starts to itch on some areas (slightly similar to the effect of innisfree's green tea seed serum). Maybe i should steer clear of products with green complex or green tea extracts in them... But this cream does help to improve my skin texture. It became really soft and smooth to touch. Gonna try it again once I gain enough courage...

Reviews on the samples given

The Tony Moly's Ice Queen Multiplay cream SPF 30 PA++ has a very sweet smell. Some others may love it but i just don't like the smell. However, it's very easy to apply onto the skin and it is not greasy or sticky. It doesn't cause any breakouts on my skin which is weird... cause I've tried sunblocks and they always produce acnes or pimples...

Holika Holika's UV magic shield perfect sun spf 50+ PA+++ is very good for me!!! I like everything about this. Gonna get it! I was given this sample by Zhen and the seemingly small packet can actually contain a lot... It doesn't cause any breakouts. The smell is ok. It is slightly sticky

Innisfree White tone up essence... Love the scent. The 1st two application of this essence cause a few bumps (not pimples or acne) to pop up on my forehead so I stopped using it... But recently, I gave it a try again and I don't see any appearance of bumps anymore. Maybe it's because i applied lesser? Perhaps this is more for those with mild oily skin to mild dry skin?

Innisfree Jeju volcanic pore clay mask
This I like!!! I had a pimple coming out and after reading a review done by Zhen, I thought why not try it out with the sample given... After washing off the mask, i noticed that the pimple is not as red as before. By the next morning, it's all gone. Aside from that, my pores seems smaller. However, my forehead was slightly itchy but that's for a short while only and the mask is difficult to wash off.

Review on cleanser samples

Holika Holika's Speedy 1-step Milk-to-foam is meant for daily wash and at the same time remove make-up in just 1 step. Just a little of it can create lots of foam. That 1 sample packet is enough to last me for about 6 washes or so... It isn't harsh on my skin at all. I thought my cheeks will feel dry or tight after washing... But it didn't!!! I've not tried washing off make-up with it... Don't really dabble much on make-up (only on bb creams)... But I noticed that if I use more it to wash, it can cause my mouth area to feel a little tight. Not sure whether I'm getting it... I'm a little tempted! wha! hahaha!!!

Skin Food's Aloe Vera Cream Cleanser is meant to just wash the face... won't remove any make-up. It is creamy (obviously). No foaming. After washing, can feel that the face is slightly filmy. I don't think many people like the filmy feeling as some will feel that the face isn't properly cleansed. But at least there's no tightening feeling for me. It doesn't irritate my skin. No breakouts. But my nose is a little shiny after a few hours. I believe this will suit people with dry skin types best since it's not drying on the skin.
(Description: A fresh clean cleanser with Aloe Extracts to soothe and hydrate the skin. Keeps the skin soft, calm, and deeply cleansed.)

Gonna try Holika Holika egg cleanser soon!! Stay tune for more reviews! Au revoir!

Holika Holka's Plumping Heart Lifting Cream

Got this cream from iheartkoreanbeauty for S$28.90.

The scent is light and refreshing. Although it's a cream, it feels like a gel or something similar to pudding texture. It isn't greasy at all. Suits oily skin type too! dunno about dry skin type. It has a nice bottle and a spatula to go with it. Didn't see the spatula at first so I just dipped my finger into the jar... :( Anyway the cream is amazing! It just forms back on it's own so there isn't a dent made by my finger... hehe...

I don't have any wrinkles yet so I don't know how effective is the collagen cream but i figured that prevention is better than cure so it is best to invest in something like this cream. The body start to age rapidly at 20s, so it's best to invest in skincare products like sun block/cream too.

Su Hyang Snow Boosting Toner

This is for all skin type. I love this toner... It's my favourite from those that I've used. The smell is light and nice. It gives the feel of hydration on my skin. It doesn't irritate my skin like some other toner that I've used. No tightening feeling. Makes my skin feel refreshed. It is expensive... about $40 plus from face shop... which is why I'm using it sparingly... I only use it now and then when i feel that my skin is irritated or dry... It's my backup skincare product... Rely a lot on it... definitely worth the price.

Basic skincare

This entry is to help those starting out on skincare... (My 1st entry for 2011!!!)

The most basic step is to cleanse your face at least 2 times a day. Then apply toner and moisturiser. Do exfoliate and put on mask at least once a week.

Find a cleanser that suits your skin type. There are many variations of cleanser out there. I prefer those without foam as a person I know says that those with foam tends to dry up the skin and only clean the top layer... I don't know how true is that... anyway trying out the Holika Holika's Speedy 1 step milk-to-foam cleanser. It's quite good as it does not dry out my skin and it definitely give a clean feeling... hehe...

Toner is the next step after cleansing. It is to remove any dirt that did not get cleanse away previously. It is also to to prep your skin for the next step.

Serum or Essence (only for those with bigger budget) will be applied before the moisturiser. The need to use moisturiser depends on the type of serum being used. Some will find that serum is sufficient. ( Innisfree's Green tea seed serum is sufficient for some as they find it hydrating enough...this depends on the skin type)

Moisturiser (applied after toner if there's no serum) is a must. Use one that is suited for you. Stop using  if a certain product gives you bumps or breakouts. Massage the moisturiser in upwards motion or circular motion. There are many names to moisturiser... Lotion, emulsion, cream and moisturiser...hehe. Cream is for those with dry skin or for night usage.

Exfoliating helps to brighten your skin as it removes the dead skin on the surface. Dead skins can cause pimples and can make your skin appear dull. If you have no idea what to use... can try out Cure natural aqua gel (http://www.japalang.sg/cure/About_Cure.html). They offer samples... so do check out their site. I find it very good and there is no little beads in it. It isn't harsh on the skin.

Put on mask at least once a week. It's sort of a treat to your skin. There are many types of mask out there... There's mask sheet, sleeping pack/mask and others... When you have a mask on... don't talk, smile or frown (NO facial movements).

If you want to read a more lengthy article on skincare, go to http://beauty-trend-kr.blogspot.com/ (the above is a summarized version).
I did not buy anything from there... just stumbled onto that site... I find it quite informative on skincare and for those who wants to know more.

Water is important!!!

It's important for us to be hydrated. When we're not properly hydrated, problems will occur such as falling ill... So, here are some of my own tips/facts... I've read some of them from somewhere but that was a long time ago...

1) Don't drink water only when you're thirsty cause by then your body is already in need of water.
2) When drinking water, do not gulp down. Take a mouthful or two...
3) Water is good for the skin. If you're not properly hydrated then your face will suffer... cause after the body has taken the water that it needs... then only the remaining (if there's any) will go to the face...
4) Do not drink too much water at night or else the next day the eye lids will be puffy.
5) Drinking enough water will also help with weight loss.
6) If a person is hungry, try drinking water first as they may not really be hungry. Their system just needs water. (this is an information from a friend but I find it quite true).

So...this means that those who wants nice nice or decent skin condition...do drink more water. Drinking water is also good for health.

Face2change roller bb balm spf 30

Holika Holika bb balm... I'm really not good at taking pics of my cheeks..so not going to upload.

The coverage is good (but it still can't cover the darker acne scar) but i think the liquid bb roller from the same line will have more coverage... This is for those who don't have much flaws on the skin... But one thing I like about this bb pact is that it doesn't even feel like I've applied anything on my face. Feels...very natural...i think this suits me well...

This suits my skin tone. I think mine is shade #2. This shade should be suited for most people unless you're really fair... then go for shade #1.

Reviews on Tony Moly's Dual effect sleeping pact & Holika Holika's Bulgarian rose

Dual effect sleeping pack intense repair:

The smell is okay. Texture is slightly thick but it doesn't make my skin feel oily at all... Didn't even make my skin breakout. Somehow... my pores seems smaller that morning...dunno whether i'm seeing things as it's main functions are to prevent wrinkles & help with whitening... Used it once (cause it's a sample given by Zhen from http://iheartkoreanbeauty.blogspot.com/) and I'm still in my 20s so no wrinkles yet so dunno about the anti-wrinkle part.

Bulgarian rose 12 hr moisturizing cream:

Liked the scent of this cream... doesn't make my skin feel itchy or anything. But my nose is shiny after 2 hrs...should be a bit oily for my t-zone... In the morning while washing my face, I noticed that my skin is soft and smooth to touch. I believe this is meant for those with normal to dry skin type.

All the sample that I've used are given by Zhen after I've purchased some of the stuff from her blogshop. She's very generous with the samples and her response to any any e-mail is fast... You can see some other reviews from http://eatshopbemerry.livejournal.com/  She bought plenty of korean skincare items... also from iheartkoreanbeauty so that's how I got to know that blog... Hehe...
